Years at Riverstone: 13

Mike’s career in Retirement Living began over 30 years ago when he transitioned from the hotel industry; the move inspired by his own Grandmother’s experience living in a retirement residence in Toronto. In the years that followed, Mike managed a range of retirement residences in Southern Ontario and in Ottawa garnering a solid reputation as a respected and ethical operator. In 2007 Mike joined Claridge Homes to start Riverstone Retirement Communities.

Now, as Vice-President of Riverstone Retirement Communities, Mike is excited about the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives to offer seniors the quality living experience they deserve. He has surrounded himself with a wonderful team and is proud to be managing a company that aims to be at the forefront of retirement living in the Ottawa area. It began with Oakpark, then Bridlewood Trails, Maplewood, Carlingwood, Stirling Park, Riverpath, Timberwalk and Willowbend. But it won’t stop there; Foxview is under construction and plans for future developments are on the horizon. Riverstone is continuing to grow.

Jason Eden brings more than 25 years of experience in the Culinary World to the role of Food Service Manager at Maplewood. After growing up in Gaspé, Quebec and attending Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec, Jason has been fortunate to work in kitchens throughout Eastern Canada from Ottawa, to St John’s NL and as far North as Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Jason feels the most important thing he brings is the care and love given to, and through, food instilled by watching and helping his Mother, Grandmother’s, and Aunt’s prepare family meals. When developing new menus Jason uses the conversations he has with the residents and regularly incorporates their suggestions.

“In the childhood memories of every good cook, there's a large kitchen, a warm stove, a simmering pot and a Mom.” Barbara Costikyan

Scott Sinnett

Environmental Service Manager

Born and raised on a small country farm outside Carleton Place, Scott spent much of his time learning a variety of useful skills at a woolen mill in Appleton, where his father was the Chief Engineer. After spending the last 20 years in manufacturing as the Operations Supervisor of a glass factory Scott transitioned to the retirement sector. Since joining the Management Team at Maplewood as the Environmental Service Manager Scott has found fulfillment doing what he enjoys, building operations and building connections with the senior population.

In his spare time Scott and his wife enjoy going to the gym, supporting military families by participating in the Army Run, and spending time hiking and fishing in the great outdoors. He also enjoys spending as much time as possible with his two granddaughters.
